Abstract:

The paper presents findings of a longitudinal research into selected psychological determinants - especially educational relationship of the teacher and their class and educational management of the teacher – and their impact on the key phenomena of ELT – teacher/pupil interaction and the target language classroom discourse. The above mentioned psychological dimensions of classroom instruction significantly influence the level of a foreign language interaction between English teachers and their pupils at secondary schools. Consequently, they have a direct impact on the quantity and quality of a foreign language output in terms of pupils` initiations of communication, questioning, feedback and other crucial aspects of interaction in ELT.
