Abstract:

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected all the aspects of our life. We were forced to stay inside our house and had limited interaction with others. Many schools must do online learnings, and many teachers must adapt their teaching methods and materials. This situation is even more difficult for the students as they lost their social interaction with their school peers and must deal with the domestic pressure at home. For almost more than two years, our department try to adapt with the situation and give our students a change to escape from this stressful situation. One of the ways that we used is through a drama therapy that is being implemented in Theater Production Class. In 2020, we use drama therapy in our monologue, and this year we asked our students to do a self-revelatory method through writing a positive letter to oneself, which is later being performed as a monologue. This research is trying to analyze how the self-revelatory method in their monologue help the students in overcoming their problems, and what kind of positive impacts that the students get after the whole process of self-revelatory through writing a letter to oneself. The method used in this research is qualitative and library research by conducting performance session, questionnaire, and extended interview. The findings of this research hope to provide new insights on how dramatic therapy can be used to help students to cope personal issues, improving their resilience.
