Abstract:

This study aimed at identifying the determinants of the success factors of women entrepreneurs in Ibaan, Batangas, with the intent of Gender and Development mainstreaming proposal. The specific questions answered included the profile of the respondents in terms of age, civil status, educational attainment, and nature of business, the determinants of success factors of women entrepreneurship as to personal characteristics and business orientation, the significant relationship between the determinants of success factors of women entrepreneurship when grouped according to profile variables, and the proposed gender mainstreaming initiatives. With the use of descriptive quantitative research, the data were gathered from 35 women entrepreneurs in Ibaan, Batangas, Philippines. Findings consisted of majority of the respondents were in the mature age of 45 years old and above, married, high school graduate, and into food business, the respondents strongly agreed that they were versatile in terms of personal characteristics and that they also strongly agreed on putting premium on giving back the value for money to their customers, there is is a significant relationship that exists between the assessments on personal characteristics and business orientation variables when grouped according to their age, civil status, highest educational attainment, and nature of business, and the proposed gender mainstreaming initiatives were for the gender development of women entrepreneurs who contribute to the economic growth of the country. Recommendations included all gender mainstreaming activities directed at women entrepreneurs must consider their demographic profile, further studies may be conducted which other variables to be investigated.
