Abstract:

Teaching language has never been an easy task, and all the more so following the transition to hybrid and distance learning following the global Covid-19 pandemic. The aim of the current talk is to present findings and conclusions of a new research exploring the relationship between rhetorical strategies and language learning strategies. The talk maps and demonstrates the central principles that serve as the foundation of a new language teaching method, which places great emphasis on using language that is grammatically and graphically clear and straightforward, to appeal to a broad range of audiences while simplifying topics that are often difficult to comprehend: conveying complex ideas using simple and coherent language; colorful and innovative graphic designs, illustrations, tables, and flowcharts; tips and memorizing techniques for emphasizing important topics; innovative digital means that are suited to the current era and enable interactive distance learning; a numerous variety of exercises at various degrees of difficulty and with full answers; and relevant, up-to-date texts and topics. All these serve as rhetorical tools for encouraging and motivating students to learn through interesting, significant, and meaningful experiences, in accordance with social emotional learning educational practice.
