Abstract:

During intercultural learning, dialogue is created between the Self and the Other. Due to the interaction between representatives of different cultures in an intercultural group, students’ learning strategies change. It can be argued that this process fosters critical thinking: students’ train of thought develops by combining existing information about other cultures with new information obtained through dialogue.
Aim - to describe the process of learning in intercultural study environment, revealing students’ learning experiences.
When constructing GT about the learning process that takes place in intercultural environment of studies, first of all, the research problem was formulated, and a plan of a semi-structured interview with students was prepared. 18 interviews were conducted with students representing 3 different fields of sciences (social sciences, humanities, and technology sciences) from 3 universities of Lithuania.
In the process of intercultural learning, a dialogue is formed between students. This part is reflected as gradually dominating and becoming a part of the whole learning process, which ensures the interaction of representatives of different cultures in the intercultural learning space.
