Abstract:

As America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) continue to attract and educate students annually, concerns regarding enrollment management continue to occur. More specifically, issues that address institutional attrition, recruitment and persistence remain at the forefront. The outcome of these variables contribute heavily to an institution's vitality.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the 2021 “fact-book” data of a Historically Black College and University in the Mid-Eastern region of the United States. Existing data was analyzed and extrapolated through the guise of attrition, retention, and persistence. The significance of this study and its research is to help assist policy makers, higher education administrators, institutional researchers, and program directors regarding best practices of programs that support student enrollment. This study will also add to previous research that addresses student success at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
