Abstract:

It is an original, reflexive and systematic review about the film project entitled as “We are Hong Kongers” . The film project aimed to reveal the identity, language and economic challenges faced by South Asian communities and ethnic minorities in Hong Kong. Dr. Sobel Chan Ka Lok, as the director and scriptwriter, would give support in: 1. identifying and supervising the production team in sourcing artists, venue, facilities for film shooting. 2. providing professional knowledge and advice to take part in the short film production including liaising the artists, production staff members. 3. facilitating the logistics of the operation of the short film produced in collaboration with staff members and artists as the budget controller. As the researcher and presenter of this paper too. The research would be studied by both film practitioner's angle and film scholar's side. The possible outcomes would look at the style and aesthetics of film directing and the possible film production challenges like casting, location scouting, production feasibility and script adjustment, etc. some excerpts of film, still photography and making-of would be demonstrated for solid examples how the film is made and processed. Finally, some public broadcasting media channels, mass audience's feedback and film critics review about the film would also be discussed.
